June 26 Favorite Color

My favorite color is green. Green in any shade or hue, I love green. I consider green a neutral. I love it in the house and outside in layers. I like to wear green too.

June 24 Love June 25 Citrus

Citrus is really kinda boring in the summer time... I have strawberries, watermelon, cantalope, fresh pineapple in the fridge. That said, I still have apples, bananas and oranges in the house. Hubby takes an orange and a banana in his lunch everyday. Max takes an orange in his lunch, when he's home.
LOVE the local fresh strawberries. They are gorgeous, delicious and juicy strawberries in season. Hubby and I love them and we are on our 3rd half flat. The girls at Barbie's Berry stand are impressed with us. New favorite 100 calorie snack is sliced strawberries with a serving of cool whip. YUM!
Waffles and strawberries for dinner tonight.
The photo challenge has been good for me. I have had to try new settings on the point and shoot. That said, I'm ready to be finished. My guys are comin' home and I cannot wait. I will be cooking and baking up a storm, lots of requests, lots of dinner guests, lots of fun comin' up!

June 23 Black & White

June 22 Landscape

The potato field has no growth, that we can see.
So, what looks like dirt is really a field ready to sprout.

Going?

The Retreat Vintage Market is this Saturday on Camano Island. I'm thinking about taking a mini road trip to check it out. Have any of my readers gone? Is anyone going tomorrow? Does anyone want to carpool?
The Barnhouse Boys will be there...

Tentatively,

tami

June 21 Macro

It's the first day of Summer, and we actually had sun, warmth and peonies that opened up in the garden. Like the peonies I put my face toward the sun too. It felt so good. Happy Summer!

June 20 Water

Condensation in my mushroom terrarium. The water cycle at its best.

June 19 Summertime

BaH, HA, Ha, ha, ha... Summertime. Now that is a challenge. It was so cold, dark and windy yesterday, that after my short bike ride, I came home, turned on the furnace, got out the down blanket and shivered. I didn't even get pics of the guys on Father's Day, I just didn't have the heart to make them go outside.
Poor little peony, pretty but shivering.

June 18 Eyes

Okay, this just isn't fun anymore. After shooting many, many photos of my eyes, I have sunk into a deep depression regarding all the wrinkles that show up on these close up pics.
Never. doing. another. photo. challenge. Ever.

Father's Day Favors

I found Father's Day subway art HERE. A free printable with all those things Dad told you over and over... I printed using the denim choice on white cardstock, mounted with navy and red papers, tied them using white raffia around movie candy and then added red, white and blue ribbon scraps. Easy and fun Father's Day party favors.
Shhhhh... don't tell my Dad, Hubby, my brother or BILs...
Happy Father's Day

June 17 Bokeh

Bokeh was the photo assignment today. Bokeh is a photo where the subject is focused and sharp and the background is blurry or soft. Since I have a point and shoot camera I was worried about obtaining THE bokeh. I have accidentally taken a photo with bokeh but, yeah, accidentally is the key here. I researched and found an article with helpful tips, on Mansurovs Photography.
I took one inside. Trial and error... I actually took many photos today.
And an outdoors shot in the garden. BoKeH!!!
Try bokeh, it's fun!

June 16 Mason Jar

The photo challenge was a challenge yesterday, I forgot my camera. The assignment was mason jars and I was at the University Village Sidewalk Sale. It's an annual sisters trip, different sisters every year but still... sisters. I found mason jars at Pottery Barn, said a discouraging word since my camera was at home, and resolved to pirate a pic. I was forced to steal the image from PB, PW also used it this morning in her post about drink containers. As much as I love this container I didn't purchase it. I do have some control.I did find good things at Lucy, Pottery Barn, Impress, Crate and Barrel, Banana Republic etc. etc. etc.
And then I pop in at the BiG city grocery store. I hit the baking aisle for some hard to find items and some high quality cocoa for baking. Isn't that why everyone goes to the city?
Edited to add: I saved $364.50 shopping yesterday ;) Hubby loves it when I tell him how much I saved him...

June 15 Action

Well, while there was action today I was busy. Now there is NO action except the Canucks on TV... They aren't even scoring at this point, so not much action there either.
Oh bother!

June 14 Someone You Love

Someone You Love, that's easy, Hubby. Hubby mowing the lawn, well actually, the pasture.
No horse in the pasture so Hubby uses an old mower and keeps it looking good.
We're thinking about getting a calf. One of those cute white face little guys.
With the understanding that it will be hamburger and steaks someday.
That's the glitch, I like my meat anonymous and from Costco.
It's a dilemma.

June 13 Reminds You of Childhood

My Grandma's dishes remind me of Sunday dinners at the farm when I was growing up. The wheat dishes were taken out for dinners in the dining room, I don't remember what dishes we used if we ate in the kitchen. It took Grandma a long time to get her dishes. I think they came in the oatmeal. For Thanksgiving we had a juice glass of tomato juice as an appetizer. It just about killed Uncle Ted, but I loved tomato juice then and still do now.

I have my Grandma's dishes, and even though there wasn't a complete set, I kept collecting them. Now I have twenty dinner plates. So Hubby and I, our three guys, and someday their wives and their four kids each will be able to sit down to Thanksgiving dinner and use the wheat dishes. I love to think about that... almost as much as I love to think about helping Grandma set the table.

June 12 Sun Flare

Sun flares. Really? I failed. My image is from google images. I wasn't sure what a sun flare was and then after goggling sun flares I couldn't find one. I rode 11+ miles on my bike looking for one and never found it. Not even a feeble one.

Last week, in addition to taking a photo challenge, I attended, in no particular order, a wedding, a funeral, two graduations and four parties. And I sent Max off for the summer. Now, I am home, still doing laundry, regrouping and starting summer, WeAtHeR or not! Oh, and definitely, eating less. My, those parties were good... Happy Monday ;)

June 11 Silhouette

I'm not sure if this photo would be considered a silhouette or profile, but either way I took it and these guys are CuTe!

June 10 Animal

Max is leaving soon for the summer. Hawley is going to miss his boy. Mama is going to miss her boy too.
Meanwhile, I'm still in the laundry room...

Disaster

I'm going in. If you don't hear from me by Monday, please send help!

June 9 Fresh Fruit

Aside from the usual fruit bowl of bananas and oranges and a lemon, we have strawberries, apples, watermelon, cantaloupe, and rhubarb in the fridge.
We eat a lot of fruit at our house. The melons get cubed and put in the fridge for easy snacking. And I like my apples sliced with a wedge of laughing cow cheese.
I took this photo in Honolulu when we visited Chinatown. This was before an elderly woman (not the cute one pictured) hissed at me when I was in her way. Our friend told me that to her I was like a visitor from the North in our Safeway is to me. Really!

June 8 Sunset

Early sunset, because I was going to a party. Hey, a girl has gotta do what a girl has to do.
There were cupcakes waiting for me.

June 7 High Angle

So, today's assignment, high angle, huh?
I am not a fancy photographer thus I didn't really have any idea of what high angle meant.
I took 20+ pics, deleted many, ran upstairs, laid on the floor, held my camera over my head, shook my head, did some mumbling and snapped. I leave you with a photo of a painting that we have on the upstairs landing. I bought it at a yard sale fifteen years ago and I still love the colors, even from this angle.

June 6 Books

There are piles of books all over my house. We use the library and purchase very few books.
Hubby and I both read, a lot. I get nervous if I don't have several books waiting to be read.
Now, I'm going to bed to read. Good Night!

June 5 Breakfast

My breakfast is an easy shot. I have the same protein shake every morning, for over three years now. I love it, it stays with me and it's a no brainer. I like a no brainer in the morning. I use the Dannon light and fit peach yogurt every morning.
Every morning I go online and try to win a shopping spree in New York City with my code from the lid. My sisters and cousins are trying to take a trip to NYC and so this would be a nice boost. But every morning... sorry you are not a winner.
True story, I haven't even won a 25 cents off coupon. Zilch, nada, zip! Thanks for nothing Dannon. Well, except for your great yogurt.
Obviously, I am not being paid by Dannon. This is not an endorsed ad, not even a 25 cents off coupon endorsement.

June 4 Clouds

I thought that I may have to fail the photo challenge today as there were no clouds in Lynden. Hubby and I went to Birch Bay to do some biking this afternoon and there were a few clouds on the horizon. Whew!
After all the cloudy, rainy days we've had this Spring I would have happily taken the F on this assignment. We had a sunny, warm, gorgeous day at the bay.

June 3 Hands

The hands on the kitchen clock showing the exact time I had sunshine in my kitchen.
Supposedly our temperature is going to hit 70 degrees this weekend, for the first time since September. Thank You Jesus!
It's time.

June 2 - Favorite Shoes

A picture of my favorite shoes, that was easy. The shoes I wore when I walked down the aisle to the love of my life on my wedding day are my all time favorite shoes.
I have wide, hard to fit feet. Foot surgery kind of bad feet.
I found my wedding shoes at Nordstrom at the half yearly sale. They were the only ones in this style and they were my size. I never dreamt that I would be able to find satin beaded shoes for my wedding day that would fit my feet. Oh happy day!
They made me feel like Cinderella.
Still love the shoes and the guy!

June 1

Wow! That was painful. Self portrait for June 1, so I'm thinking, no biggie. I see plenty of pictures of people that have taken pictures of themselves in the bathroom mirror. I can do that.
Uhmmm, no. I can not. I took a dozen bathroom shots this morning. It's not as easy as it looks.

Remember Congressman Lee, from upstate New York? He took pics in his bathroom and then sent them to a woman he met through craigslist. She, of course, recognized him as her married congressman. Jerk.
I took a shot of my feet after my bike ride this afternoon. A last ditch effort as it were. I think I'll use it for June 1. It's as good as it gets folks...
the bathroom shots aren't as easy as you may think.

Photo Challenge

I'm thinking about doing a photo challenge. Julie is doing it. She is always doing groovy things. So, I kind of want to be like Julie. I've never done one and June isn't too crazy busy at this point so I think I can do it.
Anyone else want to give it a try?
I'll be using my point and shoot, of course.
