2010 Retrospect

The year 2010 was packed with blessings. My heart swells when I look back over the year 2010. There was some sadness, we mourned, we shared, we were on our knees but we also rejoiced with our family and friends over and over. We saw healing and hope and knew that God is good.
We celebrated birthdays.
The Olympics came to town or at least really close to our town. Kathi, Melinda and I went to Whistler to get the condo ready for Olympic guests. We spent days cleaning, work, work work.

Hubby and I celebrated another anniversary in February and I enjoyed my favorite holiday, Valentine's Day. Love Week!

Winter 2010 we were at Mt. Baker boarding, snowshoeing and having tailgate lunches.

I started to think about Jannette's cheesecakes. Why were they so good? What is her secret?
My job at the museum kept me busy. Hubby and I give thanks for our jobs and the people we work with daily.
This Spring I met Pioneer Woman and the best part was the day spent in Seattle with Leslie, Kelly and Holly. WoW! We shared, laughed, giggled and ate until the big moment when we met Ree, who is soooo nice.

Hubby and I are special friends for Caleb and Emilyn at Lynden Christian School Grandparents and Special Friends' Day. We are blessed by these kiddos and we were so impressed by their talents and their teachers.

We loved having Danny live in Seattle. Can you meet for lunch? You bet!
Max played soccer for LCHS and we froze our bums off at Bender Fields. He had a good season.
Spring was gorgeous this year. Tons of blooms that stayed on for a long time.
Max passed up his brothers and his Dad this year. Stop growing up!
We began thinking about putting an addition on the Stone House, lots of research and discussion. We planned to change our windows until the glass company came and told us it would be a shame to change the windows and refused to give us a bid.
In May Hubby and I went on a cruise, San Diego to Vancouver B. C. It was a perfect getaway for the two of us. We saw friends, Dan and Barb in San Diego and then spent our days relaxing, taking cooking classes and enjoying the Ryndam.

Becky, my scrapper friend announced that she would be moving back to MO. Well, fine then! We cried and we rejoiced with her as it was a blessing for her family, for her husband to find a job and for her to return to her grand babies. But for me, I miss Becky so it sucks.
Max went to George for the summer and worked on the farm. Hubby and I were empty nesters. Max grew up. We visited him over the 4th of July. I am so proud of Max.
Hubby went to Dallas, Texas for business this summer. I flew down for a long weekend. He was gone for two weeks and that is just too long, so I visited. I met my blogger friend Eloise. She is just as nice in real life as on her blog. I enjoyed the shopping in Dallas and the nice people. The heat, not so much.
Kristin got married. Shelly and I gave her a shower in June and then the wedding was in August. It was such a beautiful, fun evening. We got a thank you from Josh and Kristin, she thanked us for the gift and she thanked me for keeping her Mom sane. The pleasure was all mine. ;)

I spent some time at Birch Bay. Dor raised the flag and cocktails were made. Our summer was cool, so not as many Bay days as usual.
Max showed at the NW Washington Fair. We survived.
Garden Party with friends this summer was amazing as always. I love that evening and our friends.

My Dad turned 75 this year, as did Hubby's Dad. We are blessed by our parents.
Max played football and I loved it. It was so much fun to go to the games. Friday Night Lights were a favorite this year.
In September we started our addition to the Stone House. We added a master suite for the king of the house and his queen.
Sam came home for a September visit.
Sam moved in 2010 from Oklahoma to Texas to Georgia to North Carolina to Iraq.
And back to North Carolina. He has had quite the year. I am so thankful he is stateside and so proud of that kid. My heart is full.
I had missed his friends too.
We had family pictures taken at the cabin on Camano Island. This would be the last time we would all be together in 2010. I treasure these pics even though I was ambushed at the shoot with cigars, an orange chair and trickery. Some of us are just pretending to smoke the cigars. Really.

Fall continued with football, the remodel and sunshine for our project.
The museum had its 34th Annual Open House, I celebrated my 14th year at the museum.
Danny was a frequent visitor. This was good as he was making plans to move back to Michigan.
We had our annual pumpkin carving party at the party barn. Braden is a senior so this may be his last Halloween party with us for bit. Bittersweet. All these guys growing up.

Sam jumps out of perfectly good airplanes. He tells me that isn't true as the Army has no perfectly good planes. Funny guy.
Max had his last game in Seattle, Kassie cheered him on and we are so happy that Coach K didn't let Max break up with him.

Thanksgiving with the teens and twenties at my folks. The snow made it extra special.
We moved into our new bedroom, loving it.

In December I set the table, cooked, did the dishes and did it again. And again. And again...

We celebrated Christmas many times in December. We said good bye to Danny as he moved to Michigan. He has a new job and place to live, I am so proud of him.
We also said good bye to Sam for another year.

We had so many good times in December with family and friends celebrating the birth of our Savior. So much love and abundance. On December 24th I took the morning to spend with friends, and as we said our good byes, wishing each other Merry Christmas, Marjean commented, "we are all so blessed." Amen!
