A New Sheriff in Town? & Dinner Idea

Max is feeling better and went to school yesterday afternoon. Last night he had all homework caught up and asked if he could go snowboarding tonight. Okay, against my better judgement, we agreed.

This morning, the girls were sick, the trip was cancelled and he had a relapse. I got home from boot camp* and he had showered, had breakfast and crawled back in bed. It was as though once the ski trip got cancelled everything went downhill fast, no pun intended. So, he is laying in bed and we have a conversation:

Me-You need to put away your board and gear. I don't want it in the living room all day. You need to bring down your dirty laundry. You need to take some medicine and get to school. I want you to put away your clean laundry too. Let's go.

Max-Sounds like there is a new sheriff in town.

Me-Yes, that's right.

Max-Not a very nice one.

Me- It is tough love, buddy.

Max- Seems like NO love.

Me- Whatever, just do it. Now.

I love being a Mom, all the power, honor and glory that comes my way is just so rewarding.

*Yay Shannon! Welcome! Really, anyone can join and isn't it fun? Also, no bragging, just the facts, Friday is game day and I scored twice. Makes me happy.

Dinner Idea...
I found this recipe years ago in a food editor's cookbook and it is a family favorite. Marinate flank steak in equal parts soy sauce and Worcestershire. Have Hubby grill and slice. Always slice flank steak on an angle.

Enjoy!

Flank steak is one of our favorites - it's just that now it takes 2 to feed us so we have it less often. It's our traditional Christmas dinner. Did Max actually make it to school today? I had to send one out the door w/tough love today too!

Love that marinade, used it last night on rib steaks that have been in the freezer wayyyyy too long. Thought of you while I was making the easy peasy marinade, it's such a great one...I've been using it a lot lately in my "clean out the freezer" quest.
