Our first weekend of Summer started on Thursday evening at Bill and Jodi's beach house. They made a delicious dinner for us. Jodi made a fancy appetizer of watermelon, feta, and mint with a balsamic drizzle.
Hubby and I kept busy on Friday. He worked in the yard and I cleaned the house. Then I made chex party mix. Did you know chex party mix can be froze until you need it? Chex party mix is Sam's favorite food.
On Saturday morning Hubby and I went to an estate sale and scored. We scooped up most of the Christmas before looking through the rest of the house. The woman behind me in line went straight for the vintage Christmas too, but we're fast and got the best.
I love the small boxes of miscellany including picks, deer, skiing angels and putz houses. It is so fun to come home and actually see what you got because when you're scooping there is no time to really look at what you're getting.
The other item I'd seen in the preview photos that I wanted was a salt and pepper set for the '57 Aloha. I couldn't believe they were waiting for me after I'd gone to get the Christmas first. It was meant to be.
I love the Authors card game. My sister Kathi and I played for hours when we were growing up. Now, I just need someone to play with me.
After the estate sale we did many errands for the wedding. Once we got home it was back to work, in the yard, and washing the cars. Since it was a beautiful day and Snowflake was all clean and shiny we had to take a ride in the country. Dinner on the patio and a relaxing summer evening on Saturday night.
On Sunday we had more errands. Followed by a meal with friends on the water in Bellingham.
Then a ride down Chuckanut Drive. It was sunny and warm, but not hot. The mountain views were stunning this weekend. And then to see the bay and the islands so clearly. The first weekend of Summer was the Pacific Northwest at its finest.
