I lost my confidence and then I talked to Shelly. The end.
Well, in a nutshell that is what happened.
Yesterday I started my search for tile, carpet, cabinets, and lighting for our master bedroom/ bath addition. I came home overwhelmed and feeling like I may have to hire a designer. I called Shell. She just did a remodel herself, literally, by herself, she remodeled her kitchen.
So, she knows.
I just needed to be reminded that I do know what I want and I do know what I like. I had to think about our goals for this suite. Our existing bedroom will become the sitting room for our master suite. I have Ralph Lauren wallpaper in there that I still love and have no intention of replacing. I think its the last wallpaper job my Mom and Aunt Clarice did together.
Cream and Black. Still love it.
Things to think about:
*There will be a small hallway and a door but I do want these rooms to flow.
*The Stone House isn't new and is not a McMansion.
*I mentioned last week to Hubby about a RETREAT bedroom and a SPA bathroom. I 've heard these words thrown around a lot on HGTV so I thought I'd try them out myself. Hubby said, "wha, huh?"
*I've gone back to words I know, cozy, romance, comfortable, rest, vintage, tarnished, worn, nest, texture, layers.
Ooh, I feel better already.
*I put together a fat file of ideas, words, fabrics swatches, pictures of accessories, cabinets and chandeliers.
*Thinking a lot about recycling and reusing. Our home was built in the 1920's from recycled brick and stone. I like that.
*Reminding myself, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
Thanks Shelly! I feel much better and more like my old self. Just needed that pep talk.

My word for our Master Bedroom is "haven" - It's a place I can retreat to and go "ahhhhhhhhh". Yours will be beautiful, restful, classy, not-overdone, appropriate.....that's just how you do things! :-) See you tonight!
Glad Shelly was able to convince you of what WE all know...
You will do great, and create a cozy, romantic, vintage-inspired, restful and comfortable nest.
I can't wait to see it!
And have fun, okay?
Keep the cream and black....I have no doubt it will be awesome.
I can't wait to see it when it's finished, silly girl...
