Valentine's Day Priorities

Boys just don't care as much as girls care about Valentine's Day. I told Caleb I had lots of cool things for Valentine's Day, candy, a castle cake to decorate, cookies. He told me his Valentines for his class aren't ready for tomorrow and frankly I do not think he was worried. Nope, he just wants to play games. Girls care. Emilyn brought her new Valentine teddy bear with her tonight. We decorated the cake, ate the candy, got out the red and pink paper and glitter. Then she went through all the conversation hearts and found all the ones that said, "MARRY ME", took them home and is going to use them as she needs them. Once I read the hearts to her, she wanted those and only those. She was a girl with a mission, find them and take those home. We found quite a few and she needed all of them.
All week I've been offering to help my guys with any special Valentines that they need tomorrow. Do they care? Nope. Boys!

True Love

Since our anniversary was yesterday, on Monday about an hour and a half before the hubby got home I thought to make an album celebrating our twenty years together. Tore into my 52 gallon bin-o-pics and got busy. Doreen stopped by and we quickly did some decision making for Malorie's wedding. Then ran out of pages and time so I had a half hour to get her done yesterday, right before he got home from work. Whew, made it. The scalloped pages are from Treasury of Memories, most of the supplies are also from TOM. I can get a lot done under pressure. Here is a smattering of pages. I am liking the mini album thing. It is fast and it is finished before I lose interest. Short attention span, you know. Thanks for all the comments and email yesterday. We had a nice anniversary evening. My hubby took me to Anthony's Homeport for an early dinner and then to see the movie Juno. A real date! And our dates are still fun!

Happy Anniversary Honey

Twenty years ago today, I married the love of my life. He and Danny were a package deal and I couldn't believe my good fortune. Then came Sam and Max. Now we are a family. Happily ever after.
Tonight we are going on a date, dinner and a movie. Who could ask for anything more?
This is LOVE WEEK so watch for further posts, all about the love!

Poker Night Anyone?

My guys like to play poker on occassion and started at a young age. I'm fine with that. I like to play cards too. Pinocle and cribbage, rummy on the patio, fun stuff. Last week one the guys was caught at school playing poker...in the prayer room. Sigh...
*Please note that the more recent photos were taken by thesnapbrother. And the beverage on the table belongs to him, not the boys.

Countdown

You may have noticed that little counter on the left side of my blog. The Hawaii countdown. Since it is 50 days away today I decided to try on swimsuits this morning. What was I thinking? I bought them at the end of the season last year because we had bought our plane tickets. Swimsuit purchases are a BIG deal for moi and I needed a head start. One of them is the classic black suit, definitely not enough miracle in that one. A blue one I got last summer is okay and the final one is a tropical, miracle promising, big dollar suit. I like it. It is brown on the bottom and a pretty tropical pink print on the top. Just need less of me in it. Anyway, when I bought it I googled the model number to try and find the perfect cover up, no deal but I did find out something exciting about my suit. It was the official suit for the Mrs. America Pageant in 2006. I'm a little behind the times and I am okay with being two years behind in the fashionable swimwear world. Here is the glitch. If other sunbathers in Waikiki see me in this suit will they wonder if I was actually in the Mrs. America Pageant? Will they shake their heads and ask, "How could she have let herself go?" Or maybe, "Why is she still wearing that suit, she should get over herself and stop reminding the world that she was a contestant?" Or possibly, "Mmmm, another chubby middle aged woman trying to look like Mrs. America in that suit." I just can't decide. Nonetheless, I am wearing it anyway and I found a flirty wrap mini to tie around my waist with it. So there!
PS- Sorry no photos today, I think my camera is low on batteries or something...hee, hee.

Sunday, Sunday

Wasn't it the Beattle's that sang Sunday, Sunday?
Dinner at the folks.
Our pastor's message this morning was about worship, how God makes it possible for us to worship and He wants us to worship. When we aren't there (physically or spiritually) it is a huge disappointment for Him. I told my guys it is like if you are looking forward to Uncle John visiting and then he has to cancel. Just an example, Uncle John is not going around breaking hearts, but I used this example because my guys love their Uncle John and his visits. I think that made it real for them. Anyway, I need to take more steps to prepare my heart for Sunday mornings. I had a visit with our youth pastor after the service and as I was leaving he told me this conversation was good for my soul. Mine too, Shawn.
We usually go to church on Sunday mornings and then to my folks for dinner. My mom is a great cook. In our busy weeks I don't see much of my sisters and brother and their families so it is nice that we have Sunday Dinner together. Of course, not everyone comes every week and sometimes Mom and Dad have plans, but when it works it is nice. They have some friends that come too.
After dinner I read, nap, walk, hang out with my guys. Today I will be making Valentines because the LOVE WEEK starts tomorrow. It is all very relaxing until late evening when someone remembers that they have homework. Makes me crazy! That is pretty much how we spend a regular Sunday. Aren't we blessed?
